Craft Challenge 2013 - Wall Art - Anja

Dear Ikea, why must you be so far away, for how can I recreate this ADORABLE project without a trip two hours to get the main player in this adorable project!!!

Sigh.

Let's see what Anja has created for this months Wall Art Challenge!

~~~~~~
I'm not into art. I love going to museums and looking at wonderful paintings, but I am not the type of person to put lots of stuff on her walls. In fact, I only own two pieces of art. So this month's craft challenge "Wall art" was not really something that just filled me up with inspiration, I have to say (especially after I saw what PJ and Rosie had already made - really hard to beat that!).
Technically a room has four walls, a ceiling and a floor, right? Well, I look at it more as some kind of box with six walls (yeah, I know that's cheating, but it's all for creating a cute project ;-) because my wall art is ceiling art.
As you might remember from last month's craft challenge, I am still in the process of turning my boring office into a really charming girly office where working is fun. I painted the walls, stenciled another wall, built a desk secretary, and now it's time for some art!
 What you'll need to create your own flower lamp:
  • a cute flower punch
  • paper in a color of your choice
  • a cheapo lamp
  • all-purpose glue
1. Punch out lots of flowers (and I mean: LOTS). Gently fold their edges.
2. Assemble the paper lantern lamp and start gluing the flowers where you want to have them. I put them in a way that ressembled branches, sometimes one on top of the other to create more texture.
 3. And after some time you'll be done!
4. Now attach your piece of art to the ceiling (or get your handsome handy husband to do it!) and then switch it on. Ta-dah!
Okay, I know that it isn't necessarily wall art, but it hopefully counts as some sort of art ;-) There's been too much work and stuff to take care of recently that I can't really tell floor from ceiling right now.
Anyhow, next week you can show us what kind of wall art (or ceiling art) you have created by linking it up - and you can vote for your favorite project this month: Rosie's alphabet nursery art, PJ's quilt art or my wall art flower lamp.
OMIGOD You Guys! {Legally Blonde Recap}
The number one question I am getting right now is "how did the show go"
In a word: "amazing"
In a sentence: "the most incredible experience of my life!"
In a blog post:
If you weren't around last year for my 30 Before 30 List I challenged myself to try out for a part in a play at our local theater.
Not only did I try out but I actually got the part.
Enid Hoopes in Legally Blonde.  So yes. I played the militant feminist lesbian. And yes, I ogled girls on stage, and groped the actress that played Vivienne Kensington.  Hahaha, good times, especially the night my dad came to see the show!
(note: that face was in response to the standing character's line "in my country my word was law")
I apologize for the lack of pictures in this post, but it's hard to take pictures of a production that you're in!
Not only did I act in the show, but I also costumed the show, and helped out with props.
I was a busy girl!  Not the busiest though, we had a director that rolled up her sleeves and crewed the show when we didn't have enough people, and a stage manager that willing took two roles herself when we didn't have enough actors.
Cannot forget to mention Mr. T who stepped up to help crew the show and played a small part himself! His support amazed me.
The adrenaline from opening night, well I guess I understand why rock stars and actors turn to drugs, that high is amazing and you do miss it when it's gone.  The applause is addictive folks!
So while the show was amazing, it was also exhausting!  I got very sick in between weekends of the show and haven't even fully recovered now.  Creatively it sucked all of my energy right out of me.  I literally can't even form a coherent sentence about crafting right now.  So I apologize for the lack of posting.
So, will I try out again? Will I do this again?
Abso-freaking-lutely!
