Good morning! How are you guys. Would you believe we've got snow, again! I was promised 50 degree weather by now (50 degrees is the lowest temperature you can spraypaint in) I've got 3 new cans calling my name!
I've decided to make Waste Not Want Not Wednesdays on just the first Wednesday of the month. I've used up a huge amount of my stash at this point so I'm going to run out of projects. Join me on March 6th for the next installment.
Now, on to something completely different.
I am a huge fan of the kiwi. So when my local grocery store had them buy two get three free I snagged a bunch!
Several times in the last few years I've taught people how I peel a kiwi. It's funny because I assumed everyone did it this way.
First you need to cut the kiwi in half.
Hold on I'm just drooling over this picture... Mmmm kiwi goodness.
Now hold the kiwi in your non dominant hand and insert a spoon just under the skin of the kiwi, press it all the way down into the bottom of the fruit. Be careful not to puncture the skin.
Continue to scoop around the flesh of the fruit, just under the skin until you can POP the whole fruit out in one piece. Sometimes a squeeze at the base of the kiwi helps the popping out moment.
Look, no waste!
Enjoy!

I have always thought kiwis are one of the best fruit but such a pain to peel. Need to try this method.
ReplyDeleteLol, that is exactly how I was taught to peel a kiwi too! I also just assumed everyone did it that way. :-)
ReplyDeleteI featured this on my blog today! You can check it and grab a Featured button here: http://practicallyfunctional.net/2013/02/the-fun-in-functional-link-party-39/
DeleteThanks for the tutorial as I have always had problems peeling a kiwi. As soon as I looked at the first pic I knew what you were going to do. Thanks again. I have several to peel, and will try it out. :)
ReplyDeleteI never knew this!
ReplyDeleteThis rarely works for me. Either I am deficient in the art of kiwi peeling, or I'm not buying ripe enough kiwis. :-(
ReplyDeleteI peel mine this way it is so much easier. I actually taught my husband this because he never did it that way.
